Spirit Of 77 Long hours of practicing, beating the heat or cold, working for one main goal. These all sound like characteristics of the typical Cedar Shoals athlete. They also apply to our Varsity Cheer- leaders. The 1976-77 squad was compiled of 12 girls which were selected on the basis of their cheer- leading skills. These skills not only include basic cheerleading fundamentals but also excel- lent grades, outstanding personalities, qualities of leadership and sportsmanship. The girls attended NCA camp at the University of Georgia this summer. They received a NCA Spirit Stick and 4 Superior Ribbons when evaluated each night. The Varsity Cheerleaders, sponsored by Mrs. Salena Warlick, also participate in such ac- tivities as painting signs, selling pep ribbons, planning and carrying out pep rallies, treating the players before games. While entering the homecoming competition this year, the girls megaphone float received 2nd place. FRONT: Cindi Maddox, Marion Howard, Co-Capt. ft 4 k ?$- B-Teamers Work Hard Working in the shadows of others is a task that is known very well to a set of girls here at Cedar Shoals. Our B-Team cheerleaders cheer for many teams here and get very little recognition. The B-teams cheerleaders attended NCA camp this summer and received more superior ribbons than any other B-team squad at our school. These girls are sponsored by Mrs. Salena Warlick. They have worked hard this year and each one would deserve the honor of being chosen as a Varsity Cheerleader in the spring as many will. We appreciate them for a job well done.
