The 1976-77 squad was compiled of 12 girls which were selected on the basis of their cheer- leading skills. These skills not only include basic cheerleading fundamentals but also excel- lent grades, outstanding personalities, qualities of leadership and sportsmanship. The girls attended NCA camp at the University of Georgia this summer. They received a NCA Spirit Stick and 4 Superior Ribbons when evaluated each night. ROTC For those of you who don ' t know what ROTC stands for, it ' s Reserve Officers Training Corps. The main purpose of the ROTC program is to teach the cadets to take on responsibilities and most important of all, how to get along with people and have respect for authority. This year the battalion was run completely by the staff and company com- manders, which consisted of four-year students. During the Christmas holdiays, the cadets marched in the Athens Christmas parade and participated in the Empty Stocking Fund paper sale. Funds from the paper drive provided food and toys for families who otherwise might not have had a Christmas. Company-A. First Platoon: ROW 1 (L-R)-David McGuire, Ed Bradfor.
