VARSITY Anyone who can get out on the field or court, and jump up and down like a jack in the box can be cheer- leader, right? Wrong! The Cedar Shoals Varsity Cheerleaders are all very special girls. They are chosen not only for their out- standing cheering ability, but for their grades, per- sonalities, qualities of leadership, and sportsmanship, This years squad did a superior job at camp. They won a Spirit Stick every night of camp and got all blue ribbons when their cheers were evaluated. To high- light their week of camp, the Varsity Cheerleaders were nominated for the Award of Excellence. This award was given to the best squad out of approxi- mately 70 squads. In addition to cheering, the squad also participated in other activities such as; homecoming floats, painting signs, organizing and giving pep ralleys, and serving the football players at camp and pre-game meals. Although most people just saw the cheerleaders cheer- ing, they really did have a rigid schedule. We ap- preciate you for a job well done. X H H Varsity Cheerleaders (L-R)- Marion Howard, Biddy McElhannon (co-captain), Mary McCoy, Patty Robins (captain), Pat Alexander, Randi Shanley, Lee Phillips, Beth Finnerty, Becky Box, Carolyn Jones, Cindy Maddox. 121

b-teara most spirited group in sctiool... The B-Team Cheerleaders are prob- ably the most spirited group in the school. Not only do they cheer on the Freshman and B-Teams, they also put a tremendous amount of effort into supporting the Varsity teams. The girls sold ads, programs, rib- bons, and did many other things to help out the Varsity Cheerleaders. Hopefully, next year, many of these girls will be on Varsity.
