We are the first class to complete all four years at this school. Our experiences will be well remembered by the future graduating classes. The 1976 graduates are entering this nation on there own for the first time and will help to build and develop it to an even higher state in the years to come. Our fathers and forefathers worked hard to make this country what it is today and we should work even harder to make it better. The 1976 Senior class demonstrated their superior spirit by win- ning the Spirit Stick at two Pep Rally ' s. For the Seniors of 1976 this year was a time of storing away memories and reflections of the past and future, only to be recaptured in the years to come. JUNIORS The school year of ' 75 - ' 76 was a year full of memories that the class of ' 77 ' will never forget. The Juniors enjoyed the privileges of having open campus, which gave them more free time for part-time jobs. This was the year many juniors turned sixteen and started driv- ing to school instead of walking or riding. In the fall the Juniors took the PSAT and the achievement test then nervously waited for their scores. Class rings of every color and style were ordered by the Juniors which will hold long lasting memories for years to come. Cedar Shoals is indeed a fortunate high school to have such a spirited group of sophomores. This year ' s sophomore class activities was highlighted by winning the Spirit Stick at the Lakeside pep rally. The participation and cooperation of the sopho- mores at the pep rally was excellent and each class member has a great deal to be proud of. As the year comes to a close, the sophomores are anxiously awaiting next year when they can take part in open cam- pus and drive to school. 71 c E (A Kim Adams Brenda Allen Donny Allen Willie Allen Bob Anderson Donna Anderson Julie Anderson Stanley Anderson Natal ine Anthony Vera Appling Becky Archer Annie Arnold Jennifer Arnold Willie Arnold Lorrie Asche Clyde Avants Cheryl Baker Nelson Bales Jimmy Ball Michael Bailey Debbie Barnett Julia Barnett Marie Barrett Linda Barstow Lilly Bentley Brad Bernstein Michael Berrigan Kimberly Bess Lauren Betts Cecil Billups John Binkley Daphne Binns Elizabeth Bixby Janet Blose Robert Bolton Angelia Bone Bernard Boney Meg Bothwell Cheryl Bourdette Mark Box Nancy Bowden 72 Darnell Brightwel Joe Brightwell Flossie Brock Gwen Brooks Lisa Brooks Steve Brooks Carol Brown Cheri Brown James Brown Paul Brown Rosemary Brown Angela Browner Greg Buckler Ella Bugg Tony Bullock Morris Bullups DIanne Burgess Jeff Burkhalter V ' ' J Rebecca Burton Sharon Bush Diane Butler Kay Butler Terri Butler Susan Cadwallader Mark Calvert Grant Campbell Joyce Cape David Carlton Scott Carpenter Scott Carson Deborah Carter Dede Carter Susan Chamberlain Lay Charmaine De lores Cheatham Joy Chin Trina Clarke David Clay Alexis Cobb Robin Cohen Tammie Coker Rodney Cole Don Coleman Julie Coleman Mary Coleman Michael Coleman Neal Coley Brickford Collins Steve Colstom Natal ine Condron Howard Conn Christine Connell Michael Cook Mike Cooper Robert Corina Vanessa Cox Jon Crisler Marianne Critelli Mike Crosby Renee Crowe James Daniel Bernice Davenport Gloria Davenport John Davis Ricky Davis Karen Dawson Deborah Day Roberta Deacon Teresa Deadwyler Tina Desa Ricky Dillard 74 Shirly Dixon Jan Doolitte Calvin Dorsey Tony Dorsey Veronica Doster Carolyn Dress Patti Duffel I Danny Dulaney Cathy Duncan Chris Duncan Robert Dunn Peter Duttweiler John Dyer Hardy Edwards Stephen Edwards Jeff Eidson IVIark Elam Brenda Elder Rhonda El kins Peggy Elliott Sherry D. Led by pre-season All American Jeff Pyburn, and all Area players Rick Dover, Dan ny Rogers, and Herbert Watkins, Coach Waters ' troops finished the season with an outstand- ing 9-1 record. The Jaguars, who were ranked 7 in pre- season polls, climbed all the way to l in each of the three statewide high school polls during the season. The highlight of the season came when the Jags continued their unbeaten streak against Clarke Central with an early sea- son 21-0 white washing. The Jags also avenged both of last seasons losses defeating Rockdale Co. 28-0 and Chamblee 21-16. The only blemish on an otherwise per- fect record, was a heartbreaking 14-10 loss to Lakeside in a game for the sub-region crown. The ' 75 season was the result of determination and a lot of hard work, some- thing that has become the trademark of all Cedar Shoals teams. The Mirari takes this chance to say- We are PROUD OF YOU! The Jaguars had a fantastic 6-1 record, losing only to Habersham Central ' s B-team 32-20. Also, for the first time ever, the Fresh- man won the City Championship, de- feating Clarke Central on two occasions, 36-0 and 32-8. ' ' ' VARSITY Anyone who can get out on the field or court, and jump up and down like a jack in the box can be cheer- leader, right? Wrong! The Cedar Shoals Varsity Cheerleaders are all very special girls. They are chosen not only for their out- standing cheering ability, but for their grades, per- sonalities, qualities of leadership, and sportsmanship, This years squad did a superior job at camp. They won a Spirit Stick every night of camp and got all blue ribbons when their cheers were evaluated. To high- light their week of camp, the Varsity Cheerleaders were nominated for the Award of Excellence. This award was given to the best squad out of approxi- mately 70 squads. In addition to cheering, the squad also participated in other activities such as; homecoming floats, painting signs, organizing and giving pep ralleys, and serving the football players at camp and pre-game meals. Although most people just saw the cheerleaders cheer- ing, they really did have a rigid schedule. We ap- preciate you for a job well done. The B-Team Cheerleaders are prob- ably the most spirited group in the school. Not only do they cheer on the Freshman and B-Teams, they also put a tremendous amount of effort into supporting the Varsity teams. The girls sold ads, programs, rib- bons, and did many other things to help out the Varsity Cheerleaders. Hopefully, next year, many of these girls will be on Varsity. They have accomplished both with remarkable enthusiasm this year, in projects ranging from a Halloween party for senior citizens, to a Red Cross blood drive, to a float for the Homecoming Pa- rade. One on-going project that the mem- bers have enjoyed are the parties at the County ' s Youth Development Center, where teen-agers stay while awaiting hearings. Another has involved several fund-raising drives for retarded children. And of course they had a big smash with the wrecked cars before the Cedar Shoals- Clarke Central football game. The annual convention at Jekyll Island was a climax to a successful year. 159 INTERACT The Cedar Shoals Interact Club partic ipated actively in school, community, and international projects. Activities and service projects included car washes, the construction of a Home- coming float, the adoption of a lo- cal nursing home, and visits to the pediatric wards of local hospitals at Halloween and Christmas.
