The theme for the dance was the popular song, Time in a Bottle . The decorations carried out the theme with a big hourglass and a wall sized collage for the face of a clock on the wall. The music provided by the Grains of Sand , helped to make the dance one of the most successful events of the year. Seen dancing with their es- corts were the members of the Homecoming court. This year Cedar Shoals selected three girls from each class to be part of the Queen ' s court. Reigning over the Homecoming activities was the Cedar Shoals Queen, Carol Jeanne Neal . By the end of the evening those students, attending the 1974 Cedar Shoals Home- coming had truly captured a time that they will always remember. John Waters ' mighty Jaguars closed the 1974 football sea- son with an outstanding 7-2-1 record. Cedar Shoals is ex- tremely proud of this record and its fantastic football team coach- ed by five experienced coaches. The highlight of the season was the battle against their arch ri- val. For the first time in Cedar ' s three years of existence, the Jags played Clarke Central, capturing the city title by beat- ing the Gladiators 14-7, A second outstanding game oc- curred near the end of the sea- son, when the Jags surprised the state of Georgia by beating second-ranked Lakeside 17-13 in Atlanta. The cheerleaders devoted much time to practice this year and it paid off very well. Besides practice, the cheerleaders had many other duties behind-the- scenes. They often served re- freshments to the varsity play- ers after practice. They also sold ads for all the athletic programs, painted signs for games, sold buttons, banners, candles, and do many other things that some people never hear about. The Mirari would just like to say, Hang-in- there, girls, you ' re fan- tastic. 101 The B-team cheerleaders have gained much experience this year. With the help of the var- sity girls our B-team was really something to be proud of. Cheering at all B-team games, they added enthusiasm to the already exciting games. We hope to see many of these girls on next year ' s squad. Lto R: Debra Sanders, Gail Humphreys, Susan Sansing, Lee Phillips, Mary McCoy, Beth Finnerty (Co-Capt.) Being freshmen meant taking insults from the upper class- men all year long. They were always the last class called for pictures, pep rallies, and assemblies, but when they entered the auditorium, they filled it with enthusiasm and spirit. For the first year the freshmen had their own sports programs and received recognition for these accomplish ments. The Class of ' 78, with their overwhelming population took everything in stride and made the best of things. Not aU Freshmen take their studies as seriously as Mike Mi (stead, Left, while others enjoy the benefits of a free period, as seen with Mandy Morgan, Right, at lunch.
