130 The fall intramural program pro- vided a variety of activities for those 7th and 8th graders with an eagerness for a variety of activ- ities from crosscountry to gym- nastics. The fall program started off with flag football, and after four weeks of practice the Centurs were ready to Htake onu the other schools. Lots of hard work proved to be rewarding, for all three of the football teams had winning seasons. After football came cross country. Their coach, Damien Koch, a cross-country runnea himself, offered plenty of advice to those students eager to learn. The team coach remarked HThe run- ners showed a great deal of spirit and willingness to train and con- sequently improved on their times at each meet.H It also provided a chance for the runners to parti- cipate in competing against other schools in the district. The girls' 8th grade volleyball team, coached by Gayle McDonald, had a tremendous season. Showing great team effort and sportsmanship, the team overtook the four other junior highs in the district to come out
