Passengers, old and young, ride there, Their journeys are short and long, But each one is loathe to leave the train And its hustling, bustling throng. For there is a lure that you can't resist A spirit of Doing Things, Of making this world a brighter place In song that the old train sings. Yes, it is old-oh, aeons old! It has run since the world began And guarded the lives of a million men, God's greatest caravan! And every hour it breathes a dream Of nobler deeds to some passengers new And every hour it comes nearer the end Of its course 'twixt 0ur Green and The Blue Oh, life is like a train, I think, Whizzing through town and mart, And like the din of the engine's roar Is the throb of the human heart! Epilogue QQ- s 1 :,'f ND now we must leave our school for the road whose , .rp Wil is 11. . 51 Egg :QS rules we have studied here so long. But we carry away with us other things than those which our school books f -- 'ig have tau ht us, thin s dearer far than knowled e, the vi rm 3, -3 u g . g i u 8 .f, if things of Wh1Ch we have here tried to write. I lr. ,D ltjt 4 Nl' ' For this book is like a chest wherein we have hoarded the golden joys of our school days, whose memories we would ever carry with us. They may seem but a slender store after twelve years, but each written word calls up thousands of words we cannot write dealing with those things which fine phrases cannot say nor covers bind, like the glory of Our Lady's shrine on an Indian summer morning, or the friendly smile of the friendly girl who used to sit next to you. And on the journey, when we are weary and the way is long, we shall sit down by the side of the road, and going over these treasures of the past, gain from them strength and faith for the future. M.
