SIX WHC PASS WHILE THE LENTILS BCIL is a beautiful little play by Stuart. Walker. How our audience laughed at Kathryn Benson and Marguerite Powers as they explained the piece. They turned neither to right nor left but in all seriousness, Kathryn told us what lentils were While Marguerite gurgled exactly like boiling water. Virginia Payne then appeared as Sir Davie Little Boy and took childish delight in everything that happened during the course of the play. Whoever dreamed that .lane Mollenkoph could be so regal or to distraught ? Mary Harrison's poise, her voice, her costume all conf vinced us of her histrionic ability as the Mime . When our little milkfmaid skipped down the aisle, she delighted the audience at first glance with her airy ways and her vvitching smile. No one but Helen Kuebler could have done the part quite so Well. The faltering step, and hollow voice of the L'Blind Man were well done and proclaimed Marion Doyle a promising character actress. And who have We here with the shining black hat and orange plume? It is Florence Holscher, the balladfsinger, and now we see the fruits of her daily visits to the Voice Studio. And then came julia Cronin! We shall not soon forget her fierce black beard, her gleaming armor, and her dreadful axe. She almost gave the poor little boy nervous prostration which required some splendid acting. This play, like the others was well cast, vvellfacted, and excellently directed, reflecting well deserved credit on Miss Eva Povvnall, who has coached the Dramatic Club during the year. Mannikin and Minniliinl' M Jswgq ntgwf HE first senior Dramatic 'attempt was the charming Bisque Play, Mannikin and Minnikin, by Alfred Kremborg. It , 7 bluwffi was a whimsical bit of poetry concerning the love of two Q Q china dolls who sat on either side of a mantel clock. Absolutely without action, with lines as fragile as a Fkliel QQW, breath of spring, it held the interest of the audience through every word. The setting was of enchanting loveliness, the ebony clock with silver face proved a wonderful background for the dainty yellow of dark Minnikin's bright gown, and the manly blue of Mannikin's lacefruflled coat resting on the slender figure of our fair Dolores A pleased audience proclaimed the little fantasy a marked success. Marion Doyle, '26 VIRGINIA PAYNE DOLORES DEDDENS l 62 l

And so they stumbled in, wayworn and tired, and, oh! the delightful rest this quaint house afforded. One beautiful program followed another. And then one beautiful mornin in May, a great celebrity came to the inn. All must take the test olg the road, and for two long weeks we waited in breathless suspense, and Enally, Signor Romeo Gorno proclaimed our wayside inn a tavern worthy of all travelers' patronage. And then we returned to our course, not quite as irksome now, rested, encouraged, delighted. And so, as we pass along the highway, many times will we look back-many times will we think of this dwelling of Music. Lovf ingly, we think of our many delightful hours in the music studios of Cedar Grove, happy hours of labor and happier hours of rest. We wish every traveler who follows our path on the road may enjoy as we have enjoyed many happy hours at Cleff Tavern . Marian Aull, '26 l64l
