these leaves are broken or crushed the perfume comes forth with a new. more vital meaning and I think it is that way with your modern girl. . . . I am anxious to hear more of your work. You must keep writing. We need just that healthy, wholesome, splendid point of view that you have given me ..... Writevbecause by so doing you increase the power of your expression .... . We have so many writers today who are unsympathetic with their subjectsvmen and women there are who are concerned only with financial ain. Turn your mind toward the rising generation and record their cieeds and motives. . .A . . Do keep up your interest in writing. Read a lot-make little criticisms of what you read-save everything you write-refwrite it every yearwtry a little poetry for more condensed expression. Please accept my thanks for a very enjoyable hour spent with your paper and this letter. A. D. CThe Examinerj. I gave you 100 per cent for the Examination. ' , . . And all this she does in a most satisfadtory fashion as her long reign in this field has proved. Time was when her work embraced but a meager percentage of that performed by men. She then had but few occupations from which to choosewsewing, cooking, or teaching. And now woman's sphere has expanded to an almost unestimable chain, largely due to stenographic work. Moreover, her mind is gradually being reconciled to the ways of the world, and she now feels an unmistakable response to the daily prob' lems of life. One of the valuable accomplishments of the recent war is the world's realization of the capability of woman. This fact was established by the gradual steadfast hold she gained in politics. Woman Suffrage , her last step of advancement, has proved an uplifting influence in the modern, political world. So the present day Ends itself richer in the truths just realized, and richer in the work already perfected by woman. Her success in the commercial field is evident and we heartily join in praising her noble achievement. Ruth Bosken, '26 l59l

Nei gl1bov's QU ,CHEN the curtain rose we beheld a quaint New England lg kitchen with Dorothy White ironing Hsparefroom pillow 3' shams and Bringin' in the Sheaves at the top of her Y lungs. How lovely a grandmother Gertrude O'Donnell pi 3413, was, sitting in a lowfbacked rocker with a woolen shawl,-A doin' nothin' but cuttin' carpet rags! No one would have recognized stately Mary Whitehead as Ezra of the big hat and big voice, thundering the evils of cordfwood . Ethel Kelly was charm' ing as Inez ef-ea wisp of a girl with many moods, ever followed, nay, shadowed by poor awkward Peter . And at all times Clare O'Hare was Peter , embarrassed, awkward, stupid, but a greatfhearted, selff sacrificing lad who had lots of conversation in him, when-when he got started . And then there were The Neighbors for whom Zona Gale named her plav. Marion Aull with her hair slicked back and her everlasting buflalofbug , Elsie Harris with her thousand ailments, a real Aunty Doleful , while Ruth Cunningham amused the house when she asked to take her Helevenfegg angelffood cake back home because her Ezra just thrived on angel food. Nor will we soon forget Ruth Bosken's excellent portrayal of gentle Mis' Ellsworth . It was, in all, a def lightful comedy, running from mirth to pathos at a moment's notice and showing our young actresses at their best. Helen Kuebler, '26 l 61 l
