During chapel hour on Xovember 5, the clay before the Presiclential election, four of these people arguell the fitness ot the Republican ancl Democratic nomi- nees to hold office. 'a After this, work was resuinecl on the State question. On January 7 our affirmative team helrl a non-flecision practice flebate with the Newton High School's negative team in our Stucly Hall. One month later, our teams were arguing with West Waterloo anfl the Train- ing School in the first rouncl of the State Contest. Our negative team rlefeated West Waterloo by a unanimous mlecision of the three judges but 'l'eacher7s Uollege High Schoolf sueceeclefl in securing a two to one mlecision from our affirmative team. Sinee they also rlefeateml West Wate1'loo by a three to nothing cleeision, they won the contest with five clecisions to our four. West Waterloo was unable to se- cure any decisions. I We hopecl for better success at the 'l'eachers,s Vollege invitation tournament but unfortunately we will be unable to cuter because the large number of clebaters at tl1e first of the year has clwincllecl to five people, anil because conflicting events aml, activities prohibit some of these from debating on that clate.
