One of the most popular plays atCedarCliff this year was intended only for PHSSL one-acl play competition. The entry was Lewis John Carlino's production of The Brick and the Rose. Rehearsals for the drama began in October under the direction of Mrs. Jeanne Lutz. Upon her departure to Penn State, Mr. Walter Vogelsong assumed the director's tasks with the assistance of student director Sandy Simpson. In district competition at Central Dauphin, C,C.'s entry placed first with a superior rating. As a final rehearsal for regional competition, the cast presented The Brick and the Rose in an assembly for the student body. The Thespians went on to win first place in regionals at Juniata College, The students then journeyed to Penn State in March to compete in state competition. Throughout the months spent preparing the play for the various levels of competition, the participating students gained useful experience in technique and characterization, in addition to many happy memories of what was indeed Cedar CIiff's Iongest running play. know, kid, you're ok. You can really take it. l The brick would be all you would need forthe city, and the rose the rose would be the other thing.
