The Girls' Athletic Association, under the careful direction of Miss Kathryn Johnston, comprised of sophomore, junior and senior girls met every Monday to plan the week's activities. These girls rendered their services at football and basketball games by ushering and selling tickets, programs, and refreshments. Primarily, the G. A. A. tried to encourage a greater interest in sports among girls. Basketball games were held after the business meetings. This was the only active participation the girls took in sports. In addition to these activities, the girls also aided the cheerleaders in keeping the school spirit high by lewrning new cheers and leading the cheering section. The officers who kept the G. A. A. running smoothly were Marjorie Debnar, president, Florence Conn, vice presi- dent, Marlene Meade, treasurer and Rosalie Smialek, secretary. 62
