HISTORY OF CLASS OF 1941 On Tuesday, October 3, 1939, we were formally organized as a Junior Class. We began to feel quite important and at the same time realized that we were ex- pected to fulfill many duties during the school year. We chose Daniel McCarthy president: May Barrett vice-president; Mildred Davis secretary; and Frederick Neadle treasurer. Mr. King was elected as our sponsor. We of course had the usual parties and privates, during the year. On April 26, we put on the Junior Prom. It is generally considered to be the best dance of the school year. For many weeks before the dance we had been working to make it a success. The decorations alone took ten hours to put up. The theme was a South Sea Island. Huge strips of black paper were laboriously hung from the ceiling and white palms and ships glued on. We hired one of the best Syracuse orchestras for the occasion, Dave Salmon's. Just before the intermission the King and Queen were chosen. They were Daniel McCarthy and May Barrett. The attendants were Miriam Sidway, Newell Woodworth, William Aikman, Mildred Davis. This dance will always be remembered as The Prom to End Proms. Now we entered upon the most important year of our high school life—the Senior Year. We now had a most important and responsible position to hold. We started off on our voyage by electing William Aikman president; Joseph Dobie vice- president; Mildred Davis secretary and Frederick Neadle as our class treasurer. We again chose Mr. King as our very able sponsor. Our class play, Outward Bound , was presented on November 15, 16. Al- though the cast was not entirely composed of seniors, yet our class was ably repre- sented by William Aikman, Nathan Graves and Morgan Kelly. Some have expressed the opinion that the play was a little too heavy. Later on in the year we presented a circus in the auditorium. A real elephant came out on the stage and all of the other attractions, although on a smaller scale. The next huge task before us, and we mean huge, was the organizing of the Yearbook. Our editor-in-chief, Nate Graves, has been in deep water for several weeks past, trying to get cooperation from his staff. If you who read this have seen our editor storming through the halls with hair on end, think nothing of it. The Year- book Worries have hold of him. Work on it was completed shortly after Easter va- cation. Mr. King, the Yearbook Advisor, and Nate Graves very obligingly gave up several free hours during Easter recess to the organization of it. The big event of our Senior year came on Friday night, April 25, from 9-1. This of course was the Senior Ball. The decoration theme was based entirely upon spring. Flowers bloomed everywhere, even in the young ladies' hair. Stan Harris from Au- burn very ably supplied us with music. Everyone who attended seemed to enjoy him- self. We all hated to have the evening end. We. the Senior Class of 1941, extend the best of luck to all who come after us and our sincere thanks to the faculty for their cooperation with us in our entire high school career.
