JUNIDID CLASS HISTDIQY Do you recall back in the year of our Lord l934 the picturesque scenes of King Arthur's Court? Surely you must have seen stately young maidens walking to and fro in what is known to all as the 6'Frosh room. Of course you were attracted by a group of stalwart, bold lads who were training for knight-hood. These young men and women were pages and ladies in waiting in Arthur's Court. As the years crept by the maidens performed their daily tasks while the young men prepared and worked themselves up to knight-hood. Then in l937 f'King Arthur Tobin called together his adviser, i'Merlin,' Clark, his right hand man, c'Launcelot Daley, and Seneschal 6'Sir Kay Burton. After records of all events happening in the Court had been brought forth and read by Mvivienw Stanley, it was decided that to celebrate the development of the court a Private Ball would be held for the ladies and knights of Artbur's Court. This ball was held Uctober 22, l936, with L'Charlie's lVIelodians furnishing the music which sweetly floated over the walls of the castle and through the sweet autumn air. But life at the Court was not always peaceful. During early winter our knights were forced to engage in a fierce battle with the Vikings. After several attempts were made to call a halt to this battle, finally an agreement was reached. and to insure everlasting friendship the Vikings and Knights all attended a gay dance with HCharlie's Melodiansi ii music again ringing throughout the castle. More than any other, March l9, was a very important date in our history. lYamely- it was the completion of the round-table. There'was great rejoicing and happiness in Arthur's Court while preparing for the most gala event ever staged in the huge ball room of the castle. 'fSir Galahad Straub very efficiently redecorated the ball room while Bobby Carol and his ten piece band rhythmically furnished music for the knights and ladies and their invited guests to dance to. Refreshments from the larder were served to all and everyone will long remember that pleasant evening spent in King Arthuris Court. Some of the most distinguished guests at the ball were Lord and Lady Clark, Lord and Lady Lowe, Lord and Lady Vaughn, and Lord and Lady Hart. eo?-if
