He allended Massaehusells Marlllme Aeadenn and graduated In 1460 vilth a Bachelor ol ' Science In Nautical Science, He ,subsequenll received his commission by direct appomtmenl from the U,S, Merchant Marine, He was promoted to Commander on I April 1976, His mitial tour of duty was In USS GLACIliR (, ' (IB-4) as I Irsl Lieutenant where he participated in two Operation Deep I ree es from April 1961-June 1963, , rier completion of Submarine School In January 1964. he served as Supply OITIcer and Assistant Itnglneer In USS TUNNV (SS(i-2S2) until June 1966, Alter completion of Destroyer School Department Head Course, he reported as Operations Officer In USS I KCHTt-;L(-;R (DD-X70) making two deployments to Vietnamese waters during his tour. He was then selected and assigned to the U,S, Naval Post Graduate School where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in National Security in December of 1970 and a Master of Science degree in Personnel Management in December 1971, He then served as Operations Officer In the I ' sychologlcal Warfare Branch of U,S, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, Upon his graduation from the Armed I orces Staff College In June of 1973, he reported as [•xeculive Officer in USS DAMATO (DD-S71), In January 1975 he was assigned lo the U,S, Naval Officer Candidate School as the Training Development and Appraisal Officer, Comiiiandcr Morris ' personal decorations and awards include the Joint .Service Commendation Medal. I ' aige Diane, and Drew Williani Morris, Executive Officer LT COMMANDER RICHARD C. WILLIAMS, III LCDR Richard C Williams, III was born on November 15, 1941, and raised in Allanla, Georgia. He allended Georgia Tech and ihe U.S. Naval Academy where he received a BS in Engineering. Lpon commissioning in June 1965 he entered High! Irammg and was designated a naval aviator in April 1967. His first sea duly assignment was as the Mam Propulsion Assistant on the USS Arnold .1. JSBt-LL (DD X69). After attending destroyer school, he served as Weapons Officer on the USS VLSOl.E (DD 878). Ik- was then assigned as Executive Officer of the USS GRANT COUNTY (EST I 174). A three year tour in Washington followed on the staff of CNO. Prior to arriving on USS CAYUGA (EST I 186) he served as Chief [ingmeer on the USS NEW OREEANS II.PH II). LCDR Williams is married to the former Susanne Danes of Arnsberg, West Germany.
