The Spartanettes, girls' athletic group, was organized during the first year. Because the girls banded together too late, they were unable to enter the City League basket- ball games. The fall of 1954 saw the Spartanettes join the City League with the college as the sponsor. Grace Frurnento captained the group and Pat Valentino and james Murphy acted as coach and assistant coach. In addition to their contests in the City League, the Spartans Played Morrisville, Oswego and Broome County Tech of Binghamton.
