Dorothy Hake, Tena Janssen, Marilyn Koster, Gary M-oon ey, ByJo Rhoades, Sharon Slaven, Jean ,L S O 7' Thomas, Bruce VanTilborg and Melia Jane Ziegenbalg. Our officers were: President, Owen Burger, Jr.g Vice-President, Gary Mooneyg Secre- tary, Sharon Slaveng Treasurer, Marilyn F1SChHl': Student Council Representartive, Tena Janssen. We chose Mr. Cool as our sponsor. Our DHTTJY Of the year was a bowling party, N'0VembBI' 29. at Glen Elder. We also sponsored a Hallowe'en Dance on October 31. Our Sophomore year found us in .the new high so-hool but one classmate was missing. We later discovered that Alta Jane Calder had moved to Colorado. After the first semester we lost another member when Jean Thomas left for Gali- fornia. We elected the following- officers: Presi- dent, Owen Burger. Jr., Vice-President, Gary Mooneyg Secretary. Sharon Sl-aveng Treas.. Bruce Vanffilborgg Reporter, Marilyn Fischer: Student Council Representative, Bruce VanTilbo1',e,' and Mari- lyn Fischer. Our sponsor was Mrs. Doris Ga-rey. We .sponsored the first school dance in the new gym and also a Valentine's Dance. For our class party we rented the roller skating ring in Downs. During our Junior year Bill Barnett left our .ranks to attend St. John's Military Academy. Salina. Kansas. The class enrollimen-t then totalled thirteen. Our officers were: Pres. Owen Burger, Jr.g Vice-Pres., Gary Mooneyg Treas., Loy Fenton: QL Secretary. Marilyn Koster: Reporter, Sharon 'JJ Slaven: Student Council Representatives, G-ary -15.7 Mooney and Sharon 'Slaven. We chose Mrs. Doris ' ' Gai-ey and Miss Ellen Pierce as our sponsor and co-sponsor. Our big event of the vear was the mj.g, Junior-Senior Banquet we gave the Seniors on May ' 6. The theme was South Sea Paradise . We pre- sented our Ju-n'ior Pl-ay Comin 'Round The Mountain , on April 17. Other projects which we spnsored inicluded a one-act play and box sup- per, a St. Paftrick's Day dance, and a pancake supper. Our small but mighty class of thirteen again stood at the doors of C.C.H-S. in September 1952, ready to complete the final year, The class roll now read: Owen Burger, Jr., Don Buser, Don Carl, Loy Fenton, Marilyn Fischer, Raymond Frazier, Dorothy Hake, Marilyn Koster, Gary Mooney, ByJo Rhoades, Sharon Slaven. Bruce Van- Tilborg, and Mella Jane Ziegenbalg. Class officers were: President, ByJo Rhoadesg Vice-President, Marilyn Fischerg Secretary, Marilyn Koster: Treas- urer, Mella Jane Ziegenbalgg Reporter, Don Buserg Student Council Representatives, Marilyn Koster and Loy Fenfton. Our chosen sponsor was William F. Janssen. On April 16, after much preparation, we presented our Senior play Bolts and Nuts . We were guests of honor at a fine banquet given by the Juniors on April 30. Soon after we became bored with school activities and struck out on a vacation for some fun but returned to dear old C.C.H.S. to claim our diplomas on May 18 thus completing the high school career of Uhe class of 53. lass Prophecy As we look into the future this is the way we see the Seniors of 1953 in ten years. Bub Burger is a telegraph agent for the Missouri-Pacific and throws orders in El big Wai'- Don Carl is a big' wheel in the Ford industry and skill drives his Ford pick-up. :Marilyn Koster is having a bi!! time in San Diego keeping house for a Navy Elly- Raymond Frasier is a big business guy and is still keeping the highways to Gl-azsco burn- ing. Mella Jane Ziegenbalg is a Grade School teacher and guess What, Joe is 'the D1'i1'1C1Da1- Sharon Slaven is head nurse at St. Luke's hospital in Kansas City and is keeping a peeled eyeball on a certain doctor. Don Buser is a foreman of Ia. big' ranch and has a haird time rounding up his kids. Don Buser: Wills his brains to the Bookkeeping class of '53-54, and his bashfulness to Shorty Latham. Mazriliyn Koster: 'Wills' her quietness to Kay Pahls and Mr. Remy can do as he wishes with the office. Loy Fenton is an architectural engineer at Osborne to support his wife Sharon from Osborne. Marilyn Fischer after her secretarial career, became a farmer's wife here in Cawker. By J-o Rhoades is a part time secretary and Dart time housewife to a fellow classmate. Dorothy Hake inet rm airman at Denver and has put her secretarial work to use by writing to him. Bruce VanTilibo1-g took out for Denver after graduation and niow owns a little bungalow there. Gary Mooney moved' his Osborne girl to his big wheat farm where the money is rolling in. Ray Frazier: Wills the Osborne girls to the birds. By Jo Rhoades: Wills her iron hand with her stealdy to Hazel -Ewing and says Good uc .' Loy Fenton: Wills his AWWlS to Bill Garrett. Sharon Slaven.: Wills the Annu-al and the Pirate Log to Whomever will take them. Gary Mooney: Will-s his twisted eight Ford to the Russians. For the second year We chose Mr. R-andall Dunn as our sponsors. We -gave our class play, a comedy Too Many Relatives on November 20g 1952. Our big money raising project was the magazine drive. We sold a grand total for Caxvker-498107. Two of our other projects were selling' the School Daze Memory Books and Pirate Car Tags. Since Setember our number has dropped 'bo fourteen. We gvainedi another member soon after the first six weeks. The first party was a Irayride to which others were innvited. Our first money maker was a food stale that went over as a huge success. .... The Sophomores' Ghristmas daance also proved Worth the time and effort spent. The seconds semester things were a, little more quiet unatil we decided to 'sell T shirts with Pirates on them. Student council represent- atives chosen for fthe first semester were Dixie Brown and Herman Jasper. Elected for 'the second semester were Dorothy Fischer and Herman Jasper. The Freshman year began with initiaddon on September 11. At this time they were taught the wise ways of all Pirates. The Homecoming Dance was one of the activities sponosred by the Freshman class. They also excelled other classes in the selling of season tickets to the lyceum courses and baketball games.
