In ed from We help of SENIOR CLASS HISTORY the autumn of l943 thirty-five happy youngsters unload-' the school bus to begin their first year in High School. were all a little nervous and bewildered but with the' our teachers and upper classmen, we were soon launched upon that boat, 'Educational Schooner.' A few freshmen began 'to drop' at the end of each six weeks until we had only twenty-nine. By this time we were doing pretty well. At the end of the first six weeks we had an average of fine on the Honor Roll. Our class officers for '45 were. John W Kaegi President Gerald McDowell - Vice President Imogene Ledbetter Secretary Our first newspaper reporter was Oveta Shewmaker who did splendid job Some of our bovs made the second team in basketball were pleased to have two candidates chosen from our class for Halloween Queen, namely Oveta Shewmaker and Velma Jean Douglas Neither received the honor of being Queen but each served proadly as ttendants Oveta also was candidate for Basket Ball Queen Our much dreaded initiation was prolong d until the last of the yea When we were 1n1t1ated, we, along with the rest the school, had a picnic at the Cave in Rock State Park M Haggard was our sponsor ' At the end of our summer vacxtion, September the 5th in '44 found twenty seven bright and happy 'silly' Sophomores waiting tc assemble once again in the hall of educ tion Nanda Alford nd Joyce AUSt1H ioined our class at the be ginnin of our school year Officers for the year of 1944 were Vande alford President Donald Stacy Vice President Joyce Austin Secretary Roy E Glore Treasurer Mary Tom Oxford Reporter This year our new principal, A G Billlngs, came as our pilot to set us asail once more on our'Educat1onal Schooner ' We girls of the Sopho ore class were waitresses at the Junlor Senior Banouet Ie were delighted to be of servlce to our Senior classmates who would be leaving us very soon Imogene Ledbett r was Candidate for Basket Bell Queen and Joyde Austin was candidate for Hallowe'en Queen It vasn't long until we had earned ourselves another vaca tion nf r resting for three months, once ag in we boarded that big hip 'Knowledge' eag r to continue our studies in ' lorking for the forth coming year when we f9Ge1v9four.g1p10m3S With Mis Opal Collins as our sponsor we elected our officers for the fear President Donald Stacy Vice President John W Kaegi Secretary Gladys Lewls Reporter Roy E Glore It was a happy day for us when we receivtd our class rings Only you,that have them, can know Just what they really mean ' s . . ---------------- . 4 ---.--.. ..---..--. ... .--..-..------- . . 0 .
