----mm-.0 . GOVERNOR LYNN HAR TJE Lynn Hartje was elected Governor of Boys' State in fune of 1964 after two days of strenuous campaigning. During this time and in the days following, Lynn exhibited his well-developed qualities of leader- ship and clear thinking. The following month he attended Boys' Nation which was held in Washington, D. C. BOYS' STATE Girls' and Boys' States are sponsored every year by the North Dakota American Legion to teach high school juniors government proce- dures at the city, county, and state level. Each participant was glad to have the opportunity to attend the week long sessions and benefit from their lessons. It was felt unanimously to have been a rewarding experience which can never be forgotten. Boyd Berg resided in Omaha City while at Boys' State and held the position of Motor Vehicle Registrar. Living in Omaha City, Gordon Harlow was State Game and Fish Commissioner. Danne Hartje, sent by the American Legion Post in Gardar but u student here at CHS, held his residence in Baltimore City and had the job of Veteran Affairs Commissioner. Lynn Hartje lived in Denver City and was elected Governor of Boys' State. Denver City was the place of Tom Kibler's residence while at Boys' State and he was Director of the Council of Burgesses. Parker Williams II from Seattle City was Superintendent of the Highway Patrol at Boys' State. Danne Hartje, Gordon Harlow, Boyd Berg, Parker Williams. Not pictwed: Tom Kibler. 19 .I
