BAND The Band activities for the year included two concerts, a winter concert and a spring concert. This year our marching band played at half-time at home football games and also made maneuvers on the field for the first time. The pep band, a small group made up from the im ortant sections of the band, played at all home basketball games. The band participated in the UND Homecoming festivities and was invited to the WDAY Band Festival in Fargo. These trips reward the members for their work in band as they have a pretty good time p shopping and ngoofing off.' The band made good showings at both music contests, getting number one ratings in all entries at Neche, and getting a number two rating against tough competition in the district music contest in Grand Forks e The band ends it's year's work by playing uptown on Saturday nights this summer. Thompson, SCIENCE CLUB ,,....J The Science Club had an active year as this school hosted the District Science Fair. An all-out candy selling campaign followed by an advanced ticket sale preceded the local and district fairs. Three students who represented Cavalier at the State Science Fair were Harold Hjalmarson, Wayne Vistad, and Linda McGregor. An award, given for the first time this year, was presented to Pat Green. The award was for the outstanding Science Club member ofthe year.
