ROW 32 Judy Mahar, Shirley Lawonn, Susan Cranston. This was a very successful year for the speech department. Ten students were chosen to represent the school at the district speech contest. Six of those students received superior ratings SP E E C I-I making them eligible for state competition. They were Judy Mahar, Lynn Hartje, Darlyn.Brandt, Susan Cranston, Bob Thorlakson, and Joan Gross. Judy Mahar was chosen the out- standing speech student forthe year. iiitttttiitiiiiiitttitttttiiiiiititttttttiitiitittittittititttiiiiiiffiiitiitii STATE HOMEMAKER CF TOMORROW'- Sandra Hertsgaard was chosen the Betty Crocker State Homemaker of Tomorrow for North Dakota. She received as her prize a S1500 scholarship and an expense paid trip to New York, Washington, D. C., Colonial Williamsburg, and Minneapolis sponsored by General Mills. ln addition to this the school received a set of Encyclopedia Britannica. G Mrs. Gideon Eberhart, the home economics teacher, was Sandra's chaperon on the trip.
