The annual staff has devoted much time and effort in the publication of THE CAVALlER. lf this book gives you a nostalgic chuckle when you are an alumus, if you find it worth keeping as a record of your high school days, our work will have been well rewarded. The monthly issues of the high school newspaper boasted up to date news on sports and fashions, and kept us in touch with grade activities. DIRECTOR: Mr. Lewis BAD Performing at Homecoming activities, playing for football and basket ball games, presenting concerts, participating in the music festivals, and marching in parades were some of the varied activities of the Cavalier band. The band received a number one rating at the County Music Festival and a number two rating at the District Ill Music Contest. Qualifying for the State Music Festival by receiving a number one rating at the District were Kathy Hillis, saxophone solo, Fred Olafson, sousaphone solo, Candis Hartje, baton twirling, Judie Schroeder, DeeAnn Eberhart and Helen Eastman, clarinet trio, Ward Lewis, Herbie Thomson, and Joanne Steinke, trumpet trio, and Cary Steinke, Susan Restemayer, and Jerry Schroeder, trombone trio. Other solos and ensembles were the saxophone trio, David Kemp, Gerialdine Thomson, clarinet solo, Judie Schroeder, and trumpet solo. Bob Thorlakson.
