This was the second year for organized golf at CHS. lf interest and participation continue to increase, golf will become a letter sport. A triangular tournament at Larimore opened the season. John Berg, the team's only senior, scored a 71 in the meet and placed second in individual scoring while the team as a whole placed third. Other meets were held at Cavalier, Park River, and Grand Forks. Berg was low scorer in all the meets. Tom Hodgson, Jerry Greenwood, Doug Rodvold, Lyle Webb, and Berg attended the state golf meet in Larimore on June 3. 1 Rick Miller Lyle Webb

Dick Smerud STUDENT MANAGER: Richard Collins Fred Olafson TRACK Cavalier's track team placed fourth in the district track meet in which fourteen teams competed. Fred Olafson tossed the javelin 155 feet M inches to take first place in that division and qualify for the state meet. Mike Kihne also qualified by placing second in the 880-yard dash. ln the Sioux Outdoor relays at Grand Forks, Cavalier shared tenth position with Pembina in a meet in which 33 schools were entered.
