PAGE TWENTY NIN I TENNIS 1 93 1 TENNIS Thxs IS the flrst year that we have organlzed a tennls team m C H S The prmclpal reason why we have not had a team m the past IS because we have not had a court Th1S def1c1ency was prov1ded for last summer by the Board of Educatlon, alded by the town The ten students who came out for tennls have shown remarkable lmprovement from the tlme they started untll the present tlme Mr Wlute, the coach has been largely responslble for thls progress On May 7 our C H S team played Elllcottvxlle on our home court There were two matches of doubles and one of smgles C H S won the fxrst match by much hard flghtlng In the slngles we were badly defeated The last match of doubles was won by C H S by a very narrow margm. On May 13, C H. S went to Elhcottvllle to play. We were de feated ln one match of smgles and one of doubles The last match of doubles was tled because we were forced to stop playmg on account of ram. The t1e between the two teams w1ll be played ln the near future, as well as some other games. Not one of our players has ever played IH a match before thxs season, but most of them had played amateur tenms. S1nce th1s was our flrst year ln tenms we feel that we have made 3 falr showmg. However we hope to have a better record and more experlence next year.
