BOATS ON THE HISTORIC HUDSON C' Throughout the years, much history has been created on the Hudson River, Henry Hudson's Half Ivloonu and Robert Fulton's Clermont are both synonymous with the historic river. To us, who live on its banks, the short, fat tugboats, the long, flat barges, and the tall, graceful sloops are all familiar sights. Yet, since our childhood, the biggest, and the best vessels on the river ,ts have been those of the Hudson River Day Line. Those gleam' ing, white excursion boats held all the excitement of the Queen Mary for us. Last year the Day Boats made their last trips on the Hudson 1- this year, we Seniors have made our last voyage at Catskill High School. . forever. The memory of the -ships on our beautil udson may become a diminishing impression in our minds. For that reason, V the editors have ehosen Boats on the Historic Hudson as a motif , for the 1954 edition of the Rip Van Winkle .,.. So ....
