English Numerous changes marked the year for the English department. Along with SANDRA THOMAS SUE TUSTIN BA Towson State Univ., MLA Johns Hopkins Univ.; BA Western Md. College; MLA Johns Hopkin establishing a new elective, literary Dept. Chairman; English 9; English 11 G T Univ.; English 11; Catonian seminar, the department was fortunate to take on newcomer Sandy Thomas as ae MLA chairman. Catonsville is the sixth high §f : oe school at which she has taught. She feels Catonsville has a good, strong academic program, offers an exceptional amount of electives, and has a capable, dedicated faculty. Mrs. Thomas optimistically stated, ‘Catonsville is the best kept secret on the west side in relation to its academic quality.” The English department also ex- perienced the loss of veteran Jerry Bon- nell, teacher of 28 years, who retired at the end of January after having spent 17 years here at Catonsville High School. Foreign Language The Foreign Language Department NANCY C. CRAVER added Latin II and German II to their 3B-A. Goucher College; Latin I and I] curriculum this year. They have also been expanding upon the activities of the Ger- man, French, and Spanish Clubs. The AFS Club is hosting three students this year.
