In the fall of '49, 30 meek and mild green freshmen slipped quietly into their first high school assembly. After passing our initiation we settled down rp start our four year journey to acquire an education. At our first class meeting we elected Bob Kepling-President. Donald Schmimk-Vice Presidentg Bonnie Brown- Secretaryg Leo Pate-Treasurer. Joan Padgett was our class reporter and Bob Vamer represented Us in Student Council. Peggy Goble and Stanley Johnson served on the Noon-Hour-Recreation Committee. M' Kovak was electeu aa our class Sponsor, and Peggy Goble was our queen attendant. We entered into most of the activities and organizations with as Imuch enthusiasm as most freshmen have, When we entered C. T. H. S. as sophomores we had decreased in number to 28. Officers were elected as follows: Barbara Reed-Presidentg Alice Knight-Vice Presidentg Delbert Phillips-Secretary, and Treasurerg Ruth Nevels, Bob Kepling, and Francis Gillogly-Student Council and Bonnie Brown and Dean Runyon-Noon-l-lour-Re- creation Comm. Barbara Reed was our queen attendant and Peggy Goble was elected cheerleader. We were well represented in the athletic and music departments as well as many other organizations. Still decreasing in number, 23 of usentered high school to fulfill another year. We elected officers as tollowsg Bob Vamer-Presidentg Marjorie Taylor-Vice Presidentg Alma Kepling-Secretary: Joan Padgett-Treasurerg Doris Finley, Peggy Goble and Bill Turner-Student Council. Alice Knight-Reporter. Peggy Goble and Bonnie Brown were electedcheerleaders and Ruth Nevels was our queen attendant. Seven of us were elected to the Annual Staff and fiveato the National Honor Society. Our Junior play Comin Round the Mountain, under the direction of Miss LaMandin was a big success. Mrs, Williams and Mr. Mayes were our sponsors and supervised the Homecoming and the Junior-Senior Prom. For the fourth and final time all 23 of us returned to finish the one short year as the great seniors. Our officers were as follows: Bill Turner-Presidentg Ruth Nevels-Vice Presidentg Alma Kepling-Secretary, Treasurerg and Doris Finley, Dean Runyon, and Bob Varner-Student Council. Peggy Goble was elected cheerleader and Alice Knight was our Homecoming Queen. Bob Varner was President of the F. F. A. Chapter and Vice President of Sect- ion 18. Bob Kepling and Delbert Phillips were Captains and Co-Captains on the football team. Mrs. Williams and Mr. Totheroh helped us with our play Rest Assured. We added one to the class the second semester, Keith Brown. Elinor Valentine and Stanley Johnson were given D. A. R. and S. A. R, Awards by the class and faculty. We the Senior Class of 1953 wish to thank the faculty for their never tiring efforts to make Us sound American citizens during our four short years at C. T. H. S. To the under classmen we wish that their remaining years be as full of good times as ours have been,
