In a freshman class of World History, Teresa Quinn has just discussed the Austrian Empire, while Ann Curran is locating that vast and important territory on the map. First year history covers the period of time from primitive man to the Middle Ages. This lesson gives to the students an appreciation for the ancient art and culture. lt's interesting-really! Delight in the new religion texts, The Way, The Truth and the Life, is being registered by freshman reader Elizabeth Aylmer and received enthusiastically by her classmates. Pictured in the foreground are: Margaret Kriebel, Eileen McCarthy. Nancy Inforzata, Barbara Iulieno, Noreen Lydon. Mary Mcllrdle. Freshmen are the newest comers to Hallahan and they bring with them vitality, new ideas, and determination to help their school rank as the finest in the land. The present freshman class consisting of eight hundred high spirited students will probably go down in history as one of its most coopera- tive classes. This custom of coming to school by trolley, of having six or seven different teachers, of studying French and Latin, of Wearing the coveted Hallahan uniform is all new and Wonderful to them. They have also made a significant contribution to the War effort of our school. ln sport activities the freshmen are not found lacking in ability to participate in class basketball and on hockey teams. ln the field of music the freshman orchestra stands out as a great achievement. On the honor roll may be found the names of many first year students, indicating that intelligence is the mainstay of the class of forty-seven. ln this year the freshmen who really have what it takes lay the foundation of a happy high school career. Our school motto Aptate Lampades Vestras applies to this class, for they keep trimmed their lamps. lfllf' jlfwdglflflelfl 645:55 0
