NY modern American high school provides a splendid course of study and extra-curricular activities such as de- bating, school publications, musical op- portunities, and a wide variety of sports. Here at Hallahan, however, along with an extensive curriculum as well as a varied activities program. is found the basic foundation of all these things-religion. The Catholic high school girl is trained so that when she receives her diploma on her graduation day, she should be able to make this world a better, happier place for her having lived in it. This is because she has been educated with a religious background in a Catholic school. In the ensuing pages of this book will be shown the Hallahan student both at work and at play, in serious and gay moods. Yet throughout, as the very core of her activity, will be found basic Catho- lic traini.ng. As the student or graduate reads this book, she will be reminded of the pleas- ures of happy days in school. Through this publication will be found many traces of the firm religious fibre that should fit a young woman for any career she chooses to elect. After graduation what? Much is to be done: grave problems must be faced and solved. The times are difficult, fraught with uncertainty and clouded by war. The Catholic graduate does not leave her school without having been fortified and enriched. Behind her economic, political, and social problems will be found a philosophy that will work if she is Catho- lic enough to make it work. ,
