The education of the Catholic girl is not in the quest of knowledge alone. lt is inseparable from the belief that all learning should begin and end with God. This ideal was realized in l9l2, the vear in which the lohn W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School was founded. Throughout the years it has re- rnained the incarnation of that ideal. lts first principal, the late Most Reverend Philip R. McDevitt, Bishop of Harrisburg, his successors, and our present super- intendent, the Rt. Rev. Monsignor lohn l. Bonner, have striven to make the school achieve the high purpose of its foundation. To assist the diocese in carrying out the tremendous task of Catholic high school education the West Philadelphia Catholic Girls' High was opened in l927. Catholic education continued to rnarch on in the opening of the Little Flower Catholic Girls' High in l939 and St. Huhert's Catholic Girls' High in l94l. if
