C.'s proud foot- ball history. With the game less than five minutes old, fullback Bill Shuple scored the first of his three touchdowns by blasting over from the four. The Crusaders marched right back to score but they never moved into the SEASON'S RECORD C. C.-26 .... ...Saginaw-6 C. C.-32 .... ...South-12 C. C.- 7 .... ...Flint-19 C.C.-31. . . ...Central-7 C. Shuple went over for the final score late in the period after a 51 yard sprint by Bob Misner. Catholic was paced by fine performance from Ed Zyniewicz, Mike Ward, Bob Misner, Jim Wysocki, George Jackoboice, Dan Blain, Chuck Collins, Volker Thiry, and Jim Ryan. DEDICATION Cougar Varsity The Cougar Varsity football team displayed depth in every position to capture the 1958 city football championship, and a No. 3 ranking in the state. The team scored a total of 245 points to its opponents 75. The team was led by its 17 senior members, who formed its nucleus, but individual performers cannot be singled out for their excellent play because it was team ability, spirit, and cooperation which carried the Cougars to another fine season.

l owe it all to my darling mother. C. C. 29 Union 6 Ted Sowle's efficient eleven entered Houseman Held assured of two things: Hrst, the City League Title, and second, that past history would not be repeated. All that remained for the Cat-men to do was to convince Union. So once again behind the broad, powerful shoulders of an All American line, bulldog Bill Shuple was unleashed, and along with Bob Misner, Jim Ryan, and Tim Barager, the Union goal was frequently invaded. The Cougars with a 27 to 6 victory in sight were still sharp, and when late in the final period oppor- tunity once again knocked, the Blue and White struck with cat-like swiftness to smother an un- suspecting Unionite behind his goal. The over- worked score-board ended its night heralding a 29 to 6 victory for the Cougars. C. C. 38 Detroit 6 Detroit's Shamrocks learned it takes more than the luck of the Irish to stop a victory hungry Cougar, andthe Buck- ley Field boys showed they could tight and win even on foreign soil. The Motor City's end zone must have had a magnetic attraction for Bill Shuple, who tasted paydirt three times. Not to be outdone, All City end Dan Blain scored on the receiving end of a Jim Ryan pass. For want of something better to do, both Misner and Nystrom crossed the goal line in the last quarter, thus climaxing the Detroit rivalry with a 38 to 6 victory. Nice Pass, Jimmy!
