Swimming 1956-57 The tankers are not to be dunked again. ln its third year as a varsity sport, the swimming team finished in a tie for second place in dual competition. Lacking only in individual performances, the team slipped to fifth place in city meet. A surprisingly young and talented team came out of many hopefuls. Names such as Bill Man- ning, Ed Wysocki, Jim Wysocki, Pete Gamm, Ed Elderkin and Ed Urbanski will be heard for another two years. Dave Nowicki and Tom Mooney, the only iuniors on the squad, did consistently fine iobs. And finally the seniors, the men who helped found swimming at Catholic Cen- tral, Ron Wybranowski and Gerald Cou- turier, contributed to the depth, strength, and spirit of the squad as free style and relay men. Hats off to Joe Maggini, Jim Donahue, and Dick Bek lcaptainl, char- ter members ofthe first swimming team at Catholic Central.
