One of the problems was that of height. The team averaged 51 ll - - - 9 which is extremely short In modern basketba many extra hours trying to develop new Techniques and speed to offset the height disadvantage. The great variety of offensive and defensive styles used in the games made each contest interesting. This variety was devised and directed b th k'll ' y e s i ed Varsity Coach-Don Lennon. With their tremendous FF e ort to bring victories to Catholic Central, the players displayed a spirit which winning schools might have lacked. All the players saw action, but the team ll. R E S E R V E S J Height, a necessity in basket- ball these days, gave a new- look to the Cougar Reserves this past season. Added to this welcomed advantage was the burning desire to improve. This they accomplished, for the iun- ior Cougar squad tallied eight victories. Even in the seven losses the Reserve team battled ' superbly. Coach Joe Godleski took particular notice of the alertness of his players. All of Catholic's fans hope these young Cougar cagemen will put the Varsity teams on top in coming seasons. A. Champion, E. Possessing great speed as well as an excellent shooting eye, the young Cougars tied for second place as they annexed seven wins against four losses. The five boys seeing most of the action were: P. Rinkevich at center, T. Flick- enger, and B. Navigato at guards, and H. Miller and P. Tietema at forwards.
