Count them by sensation and not by calendars and each moment is a day. and the race a life. The sun is rising beyond the distant hillsg uncertainty shades the dawn as we advance into the light. We are Freshmen jostling in a crowd of unfamiliar faces, experiencing the friendships of many new acquaintances and becoming only partially aware of the significance of our first retreat. The fore-noon becomes radiant in the light of our ambition. As Sophomores we begin to sense our purpose. We greet our new spiritual leader, the Most Reverend Bishop Haas, with sincere enthusiasm. Catholic Central reaches a new goal in attendance, we now number eleven hundred and fifty. The sun high in the heavens announces that midday has descended. ln the glory of our noon-tide we dream the plans of the future. With pardonable pride we Iuniors announce that the greatest num- ber of winners in the Bishops High School Fund Essay Contest are from our ranks. We promote our first social event the I-Hop. Our love and respect for Catholic Central has taken root. Reluctantly we view the evening shadows descending upon our firm society of nearly three hundred members. Now we are aim- ing for the future, but so little time remains to plan and work. Father William Murphy returns as the self-sacrificing principal. After promoting a unique and vigorous campaign the clamoring seniors choose: president, Gerald l-louseman, vice-president, Nancy Moriarty, secretary, Rosemary Vogt, and treasurer, Casimir Polkowski. Gala Night festivities, and the two all-Senior parties are treasures of remembrance. We are proud of our All-State Sportsmen, Gerry McGovern and Casey Polkowski. The world is again at peace, synonymous with the peace of soul we experience after our annual retreat. The shadows deepen and a few stars appear to lend their enchantment to our dances- the Homecoming, Sno-Shuffle, and Spring Swing. Crdinarily just another day would be passing into the realms of eternity, but there has been a radiant sunset bringing with it the promises of a glorious future. As this day ebbs away, we think with consoling re- membrance of tasks accomplished. Dimly we see each senior boy and girl cautiously advancing to his particular goal in life. ln prayerful thanksgiving for our Catholic edu- cation, we offer Almighty God this complete day. Tomorrow, we go forth to test our worth, remembering that we have been educated for democracy. Rosemary Vogt '46
