Class Resume After a vigorous campaign for election of ollicers in October, the class placed its welfare in the hands of Edward Leonard, presidentg Anne Devine, vicefpresidentg Patricia Pyman, secretaryg and James Rose, treasurer. October 8 marked the beginning of the social events when the annual Homecoming was observed with its traditional King and Queen ceremonies. This was followed by the Mixer at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Rollerfskating Parties at Ramona Park were great attractions too. February 20 marked one of these success' ful gatherings. Q February 1 and 3 will long be remembered by the Seniors as their last Retreat in high school. Above all, the sound advice given by Father Hart made a deep impression that will long remain with the students throughout and beyond their high school careers. This month also saw the final edition of the school paper put out by the senior staff. Without question, the publication of the Spires is one of ,the greatest achieve' ments of the class of '39. Theirs is the distinctive honor of producing a yearbook that will be an key to the pleasant past and a guide for a hopeful, confident future. Although it was a project of the entire year, the actual work was not begun until the latter part of February when the Royalty Contest was sponsored. Since then, the editorial work, photography, and getting material ready for the printers has kept the production staff very busy. The Senior Play, Smilin' Through, the most dramatic event of the year, took place April 18 and 19 in the South High auditorium. May and June will witness the preparation for the final exercises of the class of '39. . -A -5 T'f. 7'fiL f?-.-.'f '5'? 1'? 7rr'1'!'- ser was s :mrs nw ,V-V ' -f-n-+,-w.-:'wq- -ev.-X.,-a 5, ,ya 1, f.vg?2fvr: ? ,S L lj, N N '- '-z' ' '-f 7 ..' 1'50- .'-H' .-.'- 'I' ,,'.
