HE PLANS for a new Anaconda Catholic Central High School were announced last January in both parishes by Rt. Rev. Msgr. John B. Pirnat and Rev. Joseph F. Schulte. The announcement was made after a conference with the Most Rev. Joseph M. Gilmore, D.D., Bishop of Helena. The three story structure, which will include gymnasium and auditorium, will be located on the corner of Third and Cherry Streets, a site which was previously occupied by the Knights of Columbus Hall. A part of the cost of erecting the building will be borne by a bequest of $125,000 from the late Mr. William Weiss, for the education of Catholic students. A financial drive has been set up for the additional cost of the building, $300,000.

From this vantage point, extending our ga e to the limits ol our town, we realize our lives as pupils are unavoidably com- mingled with the community’s. Yes, even with the activities ol tlie world beyond the rim of our mountain-encircled city. The turrets on our school stand for peaks of knowledge we have glimpsed. Our education in these tower-bearing walls pre- pares us to weigh in the scale of eternal values, the ways of men, and to take our place in the world for the purpose of making it better.
