Now the St. Lawrence Seaway will bring ship- ping from many lands which will mean a larger population with more and better opportunities. Accompanying this development will be a renewed faith in your future. We, graduating from the high schools of Greater Muskegon, are proud to call you our home. We are ready to help build you into a vast metropolitan area and into a great international center. That warn1ng 1S no longer heard And summer b1rds nest safely 1n the trees Then lumbermen today can never match the records that we set Who swept the acres clear of trees to burld thzs land You left us nothmg but crumpled forests and a barren land We topped and felled the trees then snaked them to the roads Where steammg horses hauled them to the river banks Your roads are Skl tralls now And Where the great logs once came down the slopes SW1fter than b1rds the sklers sweep and swerve the1r s1ng1ng way Are not your sprmgtlme rlvers hrgh wrth branded logs That swzrl and tangle tzll the rollers break them free?
