cvaewafwi We, the class of 1954, are the trail breakers. The path we cut will in a few years be a broad highway of knowledge. A modern concrete or asphalt highway bears little remembrance of the Indian who first blazed a trail through the virgin forest, yet, this obscure Indian set the direction of the great highway. In time, the class of 1954 like the Indian will be forgotten, but the trail we blaze will still be followed by the future students of Catholic Central. Now that we have reached the end of our first year at Muskegon Catholic Central, we must ask ourselves what we leave behind us. We are leaving traditions and customs which will be carried on by future generations of Catholic Central students. We have attempted to portray these activities in the Crusader, Catholic Central's first annual. Those who follow us will break trail into a new tomorrow. It is our hope that the trail we have broken proves true and useful, it is our prayer that the great highway we all follow will lead through time to God's eternity. - James Guimond

l l You, the Class of 1954, have had a uni ue ,rivileve and obliration. It has been . fl P b fa yours to set in motion many of those school activities that will become the traditions for future generations. How well you have done will be seen only as the years go on. Your obligations and privileges, however, do not end with graduation. You will forever remain the first class to graduate. You will ever be the vanguard of Catholic Central's alumni. Your life with its successes or its failures will reflect in a special way on all the future classes and graduates. But because I understand this, your responsibility as our first graduates, and because I have the deepest personal regard for each of you, this prayer will ever be in my heart and on my lips: May our Lord and His Blessed Mother watch over you in everything you may do in the years to come. May They help you always to manifest those ideals that must fill the minds and hearts of all future graduates of Catholic Central. Principal of Catholic Central High School
