ZZILJJ we Lring fLe maui? nrmnen of CLriJf.H lozlaf Catholic Central football season was, as Coach Rubino put it a 10079 success and a 1002, failure -the first four games were won, making a 10095 winning percentage, and the last four games were lost making a 100521 losing percentage. Actually, the Crusaders started off like a ball of fire. With consummate skill they polished off Akron St. Mary's, 20-12, and then proceeded to annihilate Pittsburgh St. Wendelin, 52-0, and Tiffin Calvert, 33-13. Playing perhaps their best game of the last few years, they squeezed past powerful lronton, 27-24, in a spine-tingling contest marked by Wide open, aggressive action. The Crusaders next ran into a football machine working rnagniciently. This was l'lamilton's Big Blue, a member of Ohio's elite sport aggregation. Hamilton subdued us by a score of 46-0 in a game of precision-like playing by Hamilton. Mr. Anthony Rubmo, Head Couch secutively to Linsly, Canton Central, and to their traditional rival, Steubenville Big Red. There was some cause for rejoicing, how- ever, in the discovery of stellar players. ln the backfield a one man riot squad was developed in the person of Bob Spellacy. Moe Mulholland was an outstanding run- ner in his first year of varsity football running at various times over 50 yards in single touchdown jaunts. Other promising backs were lohn De- Mayo, Bill Allen, George Sogun, and Rich- ard Santilli.
