X IN MEMORIAM SALLY MARIE MORRIS, ex '55 St. Peter's, Troy November 23, 1953 JIEL WILLIAM CARHART, '55 Our Lady of Victory, Troy April 22, 1955 Page fifty-six ANNA ROSE REZEY, ex St. Anne's, Troy November 1, 1953 '55 Twice last year a heavy-hearted band of juniors followed the bodies of two of our classmates to their graves. In November, 1954, God called Anna Rose Rezey and Sally Morris home. Anna Rose's happy heart and Sally's patient endurance of her intense suffering made them loved and missed by all of us. In April, 1955, Cod in His Divine Providence, summoned Danny Carhart to his eternal reward. His absence has left 11 deep void in our classrooms and corridors. Although Anna Rose, Sally, and Danny are missed greatly by all of us, we know that they are close to us and will help us all our lives. Give them, 0 Lord, eternal restg And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. jh1zq,AhalLliu9. V ,fr f 1 s ,f 4 I qi .X k Q .xp V Z, ' f,'v,I,,,f' F. Hilarious noises resounded through the halls of Catholic High as the officers played games and enjoyed refreshments. Toward St. Valentine's Day all of us were saving our money for the Valentine Mission Rally to help the missions throughout the world. YVhen February 14 rolled around, all of us who had filled our quota hurried to the auditorium at S.S.A. to see the big surprise we'd all been waiting for anxiously. Gleeful shouts rang out as caricatures of our priests, sisters, and classmates flashed across the screen. These caricatures were made by the Art classes. At the end ol the show, baby pictures of the seniors were flashed across the screen. None of us knew about this feature of the show, and many faces were red as we left the auditorium. Our Sodality celebrated March as the month of vocations by sponsoring a vocation program. Many of the religious connnunities of the United States were represented on the stage by some of our seniors and juniors clothed in the habit of the orders. Each student performer spoke on the particular work of the group he represented. Q2 -2 . . 'ig CAPETERTA KEEP THE CHANGE, says Doug Galias to Mr. Conway as J. Early, C. Coviello and P. Coach Steve Scarchilli map out important strategy before the 'Burgh game. Before recording the story ol the 19541 -55 Ath- letic Season, we should like to commend the un- sung heroes of Catholic High. Heading the list is Coach Bill Carley who has successfully guided our football, basketball, and baseball teams. Coach Carley has taught the Crusader athletes to become not only good winners, but also good losers. This training should greatly help our boys throughout their entire lives. Credit, too, should be given to Athletic Director, Father Baniakg and to Assist- ant Football Coaches, Steve Scarchilli, Nick Anth- ony, and Jim Laposta, to freshman basketball Coach Bud McClure, and to Hockey Coach Lou Colangione. The Varsity and V. cheerleaders we appreciate for the faithful support which they have furnished our team this season. ndpnwffz, . ll.-KRRI-1l.lNti 'l'llROlJGH ... Ed Duclos contributed to the heavy Crusader running, but the attack was halted by penalties. Tony Malone and Mike Slattery each scored two T.D.'s for V.l., while little jack Meyers added the fifth. The Catholic High touchdown came in the third quarter on a pass from jim Merola to Paul McClure. Ed Duclos smashed over for the extra point. LA SALLE INSTITUTE The Crusaders met La Salle's Cadets in the fourth game of the season and fell at the hands of the Blue and VVhite, 12-0. Catholic High, stymied on the ground by the excellent La Salle line, also found the going tough in the air as La Salle safetyman, Jackie Weaver, intercepted four Purple and White passes. La Salle's touch- downs were tallied by Weaver and jerry Bouchard. Catholic High's most notable performance was given by fleet halfback Tony Meliti whose off- taekle darts compiled most of the Crusader yardage. Page eighty-two for one. LaSalle and St. Mary's ol' Amsterdam each took two games from the Purple and White to account for the only Catholic lligh losses. Freshman junior Reo proved to be the outstanding scorer and rebounder on the otherwise all sophomore team. Tom Con- nally was the team's floor general, sparking the squad with his excellent passing and ball handling. Matt lfitzsimmons scored well and could be de- Y pended upon for snaring many ol the rebounds. Dan Nash and Paul McClure, other members of the starting quintet, could also be counted upon to do their share of the scoring and rebounding. Frankie De Crescenzo's biggest asset was hustle, and it was he whom Coach Carley usually chose as his first substitute. I.eft-handed Jim Hart saw a great deal of action until illness caused his loss to the team at midseason. Chuck Renna, Dick Spiak, and Bill Liberty were also capable substi- tutes who could maintain the Crusader cause whenever called upon.
