IDUFFY 1930-1932 W5 THE LENGTHENING SHADOW or A GREAT MAN MONSIGNOR HEALY First Rector-1930-1938 MSGR. JOHN J. HEALY A quarter century has rolled by since that quiet September day in 1930 when the reins of Catholic secondary school education in Greater Little Rock passed from the hands of Morris Prep into the hands of the newly founded LITTLE ROCK CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL FOR BOYS. Like its predecessor, the new school was officially the high school department of Little Rock College, the now-dormant institution from which have come some of Arkansas' most valued citizens. Catholic High's first principal, Fr. John J. Healy . . . priest, scholar and gentleman . . . stood at the school's door and welcomed fifty-three students, the first of six hundred twenty-one young men who were, in the course of twenty-five years, to be numbered among its graduates. With him were those other pioneers: Fathers Edward J. Yeager, Thomas F. Smith, and John J. Duffy. The four had been appointed by Bishop John B. Morris, the school's founder, and charged with the task of setting the course for the future. FR. JOSEPH M. BURNS 1931-1932 FR. FRANCIS A. ALLEN FR- l-E0 M. DAILEY 1931-1932 1932-1933
