He was a member of the first graduating class - the class of 1925. In the 1940's he served as teacher, advisor, and assist- ant headmaster. At present, as Bishop of Erie, Bishop Watson still recognizes the value of a Prep education and maintains close contact with all aspects of the school.

.L if 4 Q W' ' E 33 Archbishop John Mark Gannon Founder Over six thousand men have passed through the portals of Cathedral Prep-men who have been offered a sound Christian education. For that education these men are deeply indebted to the late Archbishop John Mark Gannong for, it was through his foresight and energy that Prep was founded in 1921. From these ear- liest Prep days until his death in 1968, the Archbishop was a guiding force behind our school. We who grad- uate in this the fiftieth anniversary year here express, on behalf of all Prep graduates, our sincere gratitude to our founder.

,gyms-it Archbishop John Francis Whealon Early in 1967, Bishop John Francis Whealon brought to Erie the diverse talents of a well-educated Christian leader. During his two-year tenure as Bishop of Erie, he served as an excel- lent example to all, but especially to the students of Prep. Bishop Edward P. McManaman During his fifteen years of service as auxiliary to Archbishop Gannon, Bishop Edward P. McManaman fully lived his motto To Serve Christ. From his days as a Prep confessor to his days as a member of Prep's Board of Trus- tees, he was constantly involved with and devoted to Prep.
