During the 1969-70 school year, Prep seniors fittingly began to wear gold blazers instead of black to distinguish them from underclassmen. During these years of growing enrollment, building expansion, and athletic achievement, Cathedral Prep has never lost sight of the primary goal Bis- hop Gannon established at itsfounding+that ofpro- viding young men with a solid Christian education as a basis for higher studies in colleges and seminaries. The curriculum is flexible, under- going constant progressive modification. Its situation is symbolic of the balance it main- tains between the spiritual and the material, presenting to its students the best of both worlds, striving to promote the development of values that will equip its graduates to make right decisions in later lUe. It thus realt'zes to the full Pope Pius XI's objectives of Christian education- the training of the supernatural man who thinks, judges, and acts consistently in accordance with right reason illuminated by the supernatural light of the example and teachings of Christ. Fully accredited by the Department of Public Instruction of the State of Pennsylvania and by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the school this year is staffed by eighteen Diocesan priests, twelve nuns, and thirty
