It is impossible to prepare the child for Christian living if he does not know the purpose for which he was made, the rela- tion of the temporal to the eternal, the fact of Calvary, and his own relationship to other members of the universal Church. It is, therefore, the sacred right of the parents and the clear duty of the priest to deepen this knowledge of religion in the minds of the young, to ieeep agiow in their hearts the flame of morality, and to enhindie in them a greater love of God and neighbor which will form the underlying principle for all right motives and good actions.
