Without his care tor our youth Cathe- dral Latin would not be nearly as fine a place, if it should manage to exist at all. Students have especially much to be thankful for. Throughout the dio- cese Catholic education has been flourishing under his direction. There are new high schools to relieve over- enrollment. Parishes are building grade schools. And Cleveland has its first minor seminary. To the thankful voices of many parents of parochial school children We would publicly like to add the students' gratitude and Wish Arch- bishop Hoban many more years as Bishop of Cleveland. D., director of diocesan schools of Cleveland Maintaining high standards in our schools is the duty of Monsignor Clarence lf Elwell, diocesan super- intendent, Gur many institutions of learning would have little value it they lacked a dynamic educational program, This service has been the job ot Msgr, Elwell since his appointment as assistant superintendent ot schools in l933, over two decades ago. ln l946 he was assigned to his present post.
