Jubilarian In this Marian Year we of the senior class are proud to dedicate the 1954 issue of the Purple and Cold to Brother Charles F. Kolf, S.M., on the occasion of his Colden jubilee. His fifty years of service to our Blessed Mother began during the year of the Colden jubilee of the proclamation of the doctrine of her Immaculate Con- ception in 1904. It is especially fitting that the labors of Brother Charles in the classroom should be bound in between these two great Marian milestones. For on the long trail to this Colden jubilee year, he has followed the Marian ideal set by the founder of the Marianists, Father William Ioseph Chaminadc. All of us, especially the seniors, hope to follow the motto of this inconspicuous, but hard-working Brother, who believed with Father Chaminade- With Mary, you cannot failfi Brother Kolf was born in Niles Center, Illinois, and came to Chicago to attend a Marianist school-Saint Michaelis in the parish of the Redemptorists. This was his first contact with the Marianists. After graduation, he went to the motherhouse in Dayton, Ohio, where he made his novitiate. Upon completion of his studies, Bro. Charles began a long career of teaching in Marianist schools throughout the country. He taught in Dayton for four years, Cincin- nati, eight years, Cleveland, fourteen years, Sioux City, Iowa, twelve years, Detroit, Michigan, eleven years, and for short periods in Covington, Kentucky, and San Fran- cisco, California. At present celebrating his Colden Iubilee as a religious, Brother Charles is still very active as a teacher in the art ugamei' at Cathedral Latin. Happy Jubilee year, Brother Charles, and may the Lady you have served so well bless you abundantly during her Marian Year.
