preside Nly dear Graduates, .-X long time ago St. ,lohn the l'lvangelist overeomes the world, our faith. You have taken the Cathedral Latin Credo as the theme of ' ' ear- book as a permanent publie profession of faith in the principles which you have learned at school and which you intend to make the inspiration of your ealling and of your life after graduation from sehool. lt is not sullieient to be believers in the Wordg you must live what you believe. Your sehool motto expresses this so eloquently. Let us not love in word nor in tongue, but in deed mul in truth --opere el rerimle. You must have faith in God. in llis Blessed Mother. in yourselves. and in your fellowinen. 'l'he promises of God are as eternal and as true as llis llivine lissenee. l ani the Way. the 'l'ruth. and the Lightf, No man eometh to the l ather except through Me. 'llo meet with perfeet sueeess in this life and in the life to eome, you must base your eonduet on sound Christian prineiples. What, does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul? The Blessed 'Nlother of God is designated by the greatest saints of the Chureh as the sun-st. the safest. and the shortest way' to Codf, Filial Piety. Uur llivine Savior's own ehild-like devotion to and love of llis mother must eharaeterize your lives to make every moment of those lives eonsonant with the life and teaehings of Christ. You must have faith in yourselves. in the eonvietion that you are ehildren of God and of llis Blessed Nlother-ehildren destined for greater things than the passing sueeess and applause of this world-ehildren who must leave this human family a better soeiety' beeause they have lived in it. You lnust have faith in your felloysmen beeause they are equally the ehildren of God--faith ill the knowledge that men ean live in lasting peaee only when they are eonseious of this faet that they are in this world to know God, to love llim, and to serve lliln-faith in the divine teaehing that you are to love your neighbor as yourselves. It is this faith in your Cod. in llis Blessed Xlother, in yourselves, aml in your fellowmen that will bring you the sueeess that you are dreaming about now and that will gain for you the sanetion of lloly Seripture, Blessed art thou that has believed, because the things promised by the Lord shall be aeeomplished.', My heartiest eongratulations to you, the Class of 1952! May' Our Divine Nlodel and llis Blessed Mother keep you men of deep faith! Sincerely yours in J. M. J., Very' Reverend Andrew L. Seebold. S. M ., Ph. ll. President -15-
