But, during retreat, the large stage was transformed into the Sanctuary ot God, when students reverently assisted at the Divine services and received blessings from on high. ln the luring seclusion of the school library, our students acquaint themselves with the inexhaustible pleasures of the realrn of books. On the one hand, the spirit of earnest study revels in its intimate rela- tions with the genius of the worlds wisdom, know- ledge and culture. A keen delight always rewards the patient search after sorne hidden truth. But the library serves us also in another capacity and opens up another source oi enioyrnent. Books are our resources in lonelinessp they are our refuge in painp they accompany us on weary iourneysy they breathe upon our troubles: they bring hours ol countless adventures and thrills to every reader ot fascinating fiction. Guided and iri- spired by their Moderator, Bro. Karl Wilhelm, they have cherished the love of the missionary close to their hearts and have given of them- selves unselfishly that his burden might be lightened. To widen their scope of understanding, a group of officers of the Star of the Sea and Chaminade Units attended in October a course in Mission leadership. lmbibing the Mission Spirit, they flung themselves into a strict program of acti- vities which resulted in marked achievements. Of these endeavors the Paper Sale was particu- larly successful, ll5 tons were gathered, thus well exceeding the quota of lOU. Highly suc- cessful, too, were the Round Tables which stud- ied Comrriunisrn, the Negro Apostolate, and China. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of the lower-classmen was the publishment regularly of a small paper explaining the Mis- sion Crusade in detail. ln bidding the Class of l937 adieu, it is the ardent hope ct the faculty that they will carry this Mission Mindedness out into the world and keep it dear to them. Eqzin, A moment yet the actors stop, And look around to say farewell ERE the last sounds of applause fade away, before the lights are dimmed, and before this drama of high school days is obscured by the mist of forgetfulness, we wish to present, as an encore, those who by their tireless work and sacrifice have succeeded in maintain- ing, during the past four years, a standard high above the average. The medal they have been awarded is a fitting tribute to their efforts, because they strove to uphold the highest standards of Cathedral Latin. We wish them success in everything they undertake in later life, and feel that they will merit iust as much recognition as has crowned their achievements of the past four years.
