Baseball Under the tutelage of one-year coach John Danchik the CHS '74 baseball team finished its season with a respectable 10-6 league record. The diamond-men batted Classical around twice, but slid into Tech for two heartbreaking losses. Led offensively by grads Brian Jarry and Tim Duquette, the Panthers crossed homeplate forty-four times in one four-game span. Putnam’s Beavers proved powerless in one encounter, as John Martin hurled a no-hitter towards the hapless batmen. In tournament action, a 2-1 setback to Amherst hindered glory from coming to the squad. At the spring’s conclusion, phys. ed. instructor Rich “Big Red ’ Discenza received his first varsity post following Danchick’s attendance at graduate school.
