Indoor Track Indoor Track captured the WMass title for the first time Since the team was formed in 1969. This success was attributed to the runners’, continuous hard work and enthusiasm. Depth was displayed as the team scored in every event except the high jump due to John Carleton’s ankle injury. Matt Wolff, Cathedral's only individual winner, won the 2-mile in 9:48.5. A record 8:58.2 in the 2-mile relay was set by Chris Garvey, Bill Hayes, Ted McCarthy, and Mark Tessier. Another record time of 2:51.7 was scored in the 8-lap relay by Carlos Arrastia, Frank Keough, Ted McCarthy, and Bill Hayes. Finalists for the State Championship were Matt Wolff in the 2-mile, Tom Hayes in the 300 yd., and Frank Keough in the 50 yd. 1 Sprinter Frank Keough loosens up before a meet. 2 Runners Carlos Arrastia and Jim Pe- traitis attempt a perfect relay pass ...3.. and complete it as Paul Abraham and Frank Keough look on.

62 Bowling After a challenging year, the CHS candle pin bowling team placed second in both rounds of inter-city competition. Although Father Daniel O’Hear coach, stressed the team unit, there were a handful of phenomenal individuals. Dan Mahue, a freshman, bowled a 130, one of three high strings within the league. Bill Witaszek, a 99.8-average bowler, and David Payne, outstanding player, contributed their talents to the pinsters. The Cathedral bowling squad completed the year with a 6-2 record and another second place in total pins. wy = 1 Concentration marks the stance of Danny Mahue. 2 Eyes on the pins, Joe Thomas pre- pares to release the ball. 3 Follow-through requires effort, as shown by Mike Stasiowski. 4 Frosh Joe Wagner watches the ball careful- ly, hoping for a strike.

64 Tennis Senior Chris Mayotte caused much mayhem in the Mass. Independent State final matches. Foiling his foe, he fought to a 6-1, 6-0 finale, and finally floated to a fantastic first finish in the state. The regal racketeers ripped riotously through the ranks of area competition arriving at arecord of 17-5. Cathedral captured many quick victories and conquered its counterparts climbing close to aW Mass championship but were clipped in the semi-finals. pierre
